How It Works

Edge Glaze is an innovative smart glass technology built on a Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC) film that transforms from opaque to transparent — and back — with the flick of a switch.

How Edge Glaze switchable smart glass works

When an electric current is passed through the film, the liquid crystals align to let incident light pass through, making the glass appear transparent. When the power is cut off, the liquid crystals scatter light, rendering the glass opaque.

EG Self-Adhesive Films

A switchable adhesive film that can be applied to any smooth glass surface. The outer film is hard-coated, scratch-resistant and easy to install.

EG Laminated Glass

The switchable film rests between two sheets of glass and two interlayer adhesives. PET/ITO conductive films sandwich the liquid-crystal layer and carry the current that aligns the crystals to render the glass transparent.
