When an electric current is passed through the film, the liquid crystals align itself in such a manner as to allow the incident light to pass through itself thereby making the glass appear transparent.
When the power supply is cut-off, the Liquid crystals take up randomly oriented positions thereby scattering light and thus rendering the glass Opaque.
HOW IT WORKS?
When OFF, the randomly aligned LC molecules scatter the light, making the glass appear opaque and hence ideal for projection, privacy and drawing.
When ON, the LC molecules align themselves horizontally thus allowing the incident light through, thereby rendering the film transparent, and allowing for an open clear atmosphere.
